Letter: For the Hokies of Virginia Tech
Letter to the Editor
April 24, 2007

Monday morning started out just as any other morning on the Virginia Tech Campus. Suddenly a young man by the name of Seung-Hui Cho, age 23, decided not only to kill 32 of Virginia Tech's most valuable gifted students and professors, but to commit these murders in the most gruesome fashion. It was without a single just reason as to why those particular 32 individuals deserved to be taken from this world so soon and with no cause, other then the demented mind of a young man who took it upon himself to play God.

On the morning of Monday, April 16, 2007, this country witnessed the worst mass murder in U.S. history to date. The students, teachers and faculty of Virginia Tech witnessed these horrible acts up close and personal, while the rest of the world watched in horror and awe on their television sets from news stations across the world. The men and women of Virginia Tech whose lives were tragically cut short on that day will never be forgotten by those whose lives they touched in so many ways. Not only by their own personal family, friends and close nit community, but by millions of people who tuned in that day and whose hearts bleed right along with every single member of Virginia Tech's proud, brave and strong Hokies.

Speaking from an outsider's point of view, I can honestly say I will never forget that day and the horrible carnage that I witnessed. I can not even begin to imagine what fellow students who were at Virginia Tech must have gone through, and continue to go through as more and more information is gathered about the events of that day.

All I can vow to those whose lives were lost is that we, as a nation, will never forget the day your lives were taken away from you so suddenly and without reason. You all will live on in our hearts and prayers forever as well as those closest to you.

God bless those whose lives were taken, and God bless those who survived this tragedy and lived to tell the story. God be with you all. The proud, brave and strong Hokies of Virginia Tech.

My prayers go out to the families and friends of those who were lost. I promise we will never, ever forget them.

Sincerely,
Heather Fraser
