Letter: A day forever in our hearts Letter to the Editor April 24, 2007 As snow fell from the sky, so did tears from our eyes. A day filled with tragedy, remorse and grieving encompassed the entire Virginia Tech campus. Millions of people, from all over the world were affected by this horrible event. Phone lines, e-mails, messaging services became overwhelmed with notes, sometimes both ways and sometimes, heartbreakingly, only one way. As the day after and the day after that and so on, continues with its news coverage, reports and information, we will all join together as one nation, the Hokie nation, to raise up those souls who were lost, but will never be forgotten. Grieving will fill the days of the week to follow, and maybe even after that, but as a student and a member of the Virginia Tech community, I feel it is all of our duties to focus not only on the ones lost, but on how we honor them and show their spirit within our community forever. Virginia Tech is a community built upon itself, upon its values, spirit and tradition. Just like the winds shook the very foundation of our buildings, the events of yesterday shook the very heart and soul of our university, but one thing still has common place among the two, both are still standing. Tech will rebuild and rebuild itself even stronger than before, closer than anyone could possibly imagine. This is a time for comfort, a time to talk, and most importantly, a time to honor our fellow Hokies. Devin Cornwall Freshman, Marketing | ||
