Some Hokie football fans get through the weekend lineup of college games and tailgating and still haven’t had enough. For this reason, Attitudes in Blacksburg is extending the football mania into the beginning of the week with their new Monday Night Football event.
Every Monday night at 9 p.m., Attitudes will be hosting a live remote broadcast with 'The Big Johnson' from the local rock station, The Bear 105.3. The game will be broadcast on multiple televisions, including a 72-inch projection screen.
“Our a/v situation is what I believe makes us unique,” said Bryan Kay, director of food and beverage at the Holiday Inn, which Attitudes is affiliated with. “We run the game on a 72-inch projector and have the sound directly tied in to the DJ sounds system, providing for a simulated surround sound experience. The seating is all central, almost coliseum style, so everyone always has a great view of the game on the stage.”
The Bear and Attitudes give away prizes to participants in the 'Guess The Score' Contest. Before the game starts, participants guess the score at the half, and then the closest score at half times wins a prize.
Prizes include football and VT gear from University Sportswear, gift certificates from local businesses and retailers, $20 gift certificates for Attitudes or a coupon good for one dinner at Latitudes International Grille and a chance at prime seating for the game. Prime seating is a personal table with a cocktail waitress right in front of the action
Before the event, from 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m., wings are $0.25.
“The event has been going on since the first week of the football season, and the crowds are gradually growing,” said Attitudes’ bartender Chris Hixon.
Kay said people like Attitudes because of the unique atmosphere.
“I firmly believe that there are people and potential patrons out there who would like to go somewhere for the game, but would not go to the other ‘big’ Monday Night Football venues,” Kay said. “We provide a relaxed atmosphere, outstanding service and great specials to cater to the guest and truly make them our focus. Add that to our great seating, audio and visual setup, and I think we have a lot to offer anyone who is growing tired of the same old thing and would like to try something new.”
