The Virginia Tech Police Department received a report of sexual assault on Tuesday, April 16.

According to the report, the incident occurred in an unspecified residential facility on campus on April 6, 2019. The survivor and suspect are both students at Virginia Tech and were acquaintances.

The report pointed out that the most common type of sexual assault is often by someone the survivor knows, typically a date or acquaintance. VTPD also encourages students to be alert of people who are pressuring them to use alcohol or other drugs as they are often used to create vulnerability to sexual assault.
