Is Virginia Tech prepared for natural disaster conditions?

Over the past few months, we have witnessed the destruction that natural disasters have caused, whether it was the earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Japan, to the tornadoes that destroyed entire sections of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, or the deadly aftermath of the tornado in Joplin, Missouri. We have had the historic flooding along the Mississippi River and elsewhere in the world there have been other disasters such as mudslides, etc.

While I hope that most of us have a good understanding of the U.S. system of government, with the Executive Branch, Legislative Branch and Judicial branch, I suspect that many within the Virginia Tech community would not have the same understanding of the University governance system.
