Tight end Jack Hollifield announced his commitment to the Virginia Tech football program Sept. 5. The Shelby, North Carolina, native chose the Hokies over the likes of Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina and other Power Five schools.
“I want to thank God for allowing me to play the game I love at the next level,” Hollifield said on Twitter.

The 6-foot-3-inch, 225-pounder is listed as a three-star recruit on 247 Sports, but is ranked as the No. 24 linebacker prospect in the nation. However, during his visit to Tech over the summer, he met with tight ends coach James Shibest who saw his potential in the position.
“I want to thank my dad and brother. Both of them going through the recruiting process themselves has given me a huge advantage in looking for the right school,” Hollifield said.
Hollifield is the younger brother of current Virginia Tech linebacker Dax Hollifield.
