The Beardmittee hosted the first ever Beardfest to raise money for prostate cancer in Squires Commonwealth Ballroom on December 3, 2011.

Blacksburg held its Fourth of July parade downtown Monday. Crowds watched despite the light rain as antique cars, ambulances, fire trucks, and floats drove down Main Street.
