Five juveniles charged in string of assaults during the month of March
Five teenage boys were taken into custody earlier this week in relation to three assaults that occurred in the Blacksburg area last month.
Each case involved a person being approached while walking alone. None of those approached suffered any injuries, although robberies occurred, said Lt. Marty Hauschildt of the Blacksburg Police Department.
The boys' ages range from 13-years-old to 17-years-old and all attend schools in the Blacksburg area.
The first incident occurred near the Terrace View apartment complex on March 16, for which all five juveniles are being charged with strong-armed robbery, with one juvenile also facing an assault charge. The second incident occurred in the Foxridge apartment complex on the same day, for which one of the boys is being charged with petty larceny.
The third incident also occurred in Foxridge on March 19, where three are being charged with grand larceny because they stole a mo-ped, Hauschildt said.
The boys were sent to the New River Valley Juvenile Detention Center and are awaiting charges.
