Despite a rare split ticket in last week's SGA elections, the newly elected SGA officers have accepted their positions and have already begun working together.
Nevertheless, the split ticket outcome was unexpected and has not occurred in quite some time.
"It doesn't happen very often," said Emily Mashack, the newly elected president. "I think the last one was five years ago."
Mashack, who ran on the 'yourSGA' ticket, won with 2,323 votes, beating her counterpart Jen Vaziralli by 87 votes. The other three elected officials came from 'The Total Package' ticket. While the elected officials were elected from opposing tickets, Mashack stated that everything was running smoothly.
"Everything is going well," she said. "We've already started working together. It's a cohesive group, and we're sending out the applications for the executive positions."
When asked why there could have been a split ticket, Mashack stated that she had no comment because she was unsure.
Meredyth Kenney, who had previously told the Collegiate Times she would resign if elected without her entire ticket from 'The Total Package', won the position of secretary for the 2008-2009 academic year.
Kenney has since denied comment to the Collegiate Times on multiple occasions regarding whether she would accept or resign her position in light of the split ticket results.

Speaking of having the guts to come out and stop hiding behind anonymous and generic names, big ups to you for being able to back your words up with a blank space in your name.
