So it's a simple 2 step process: 1. revamp the background check system so that nobody dangerous will have a weapon, and 2. since nobody dangerous will have a weapon, tell everyone to leave their guns at home. Utopia.

Yes - if only those rascally old criminals would just do what you tell them. Of course, they never will.

My biggest problem with that event is the line 'people not capable of handling a gun responsibly.' That means different things to different people, and might mean something different this year than it does the next. It's a slippery slope, and the phrase 'shall not be infringed' is in the 2nd Amendment, not 'shall not be unreasonably infringed,' for that very reason. -Guy with the camera and the 'yote tail next to the lawyer with the sign.

Lie-down? It sure worked for those folks in Norris Hall -- didn't it?

Stupid hippies...blah blah blah guns are bad...If you hippies knew how to be responsible with a firearm, there wouldn't be so many gun problems in this world.

I eat a lot of meat thank you very much, and I happen to be someone who was in this video. I lost a best friend. I didn't do this for fifteen minutes of fame ( I don't really consider the CT fame, but I mean think what you will). I did this so idiots like you can't bring guns into my classroom.

Drugs are illegal... yet somehow those who want to get them always seem able to do so. Hmm...i'm sure it wouldn't be like that for handguns! If you want something..you'll find a way to get it.

These worthless hippies took time out of their busy schedules lying around on the Drillfield to... lie around on the Drillfield. Powerful.

I think a good measure of a demonstration's "power" is the number of disrespectful, mean-spirited comments it induces on the CT comment page. I do like the connection drawn between dietary preferences and feelings about gun control, I feel silly for not recognizing it myself.

To the anonymous poster on Apr 29. How does the lie in help prevent people from bringing guns onto campus? Even if you persuade Commonwealth of VA to pass more guns laws, how is that going to prevent people from brining guns onto campus? You have yourself an extremely false sense of security is all. Make all the rules you want, but unless there is active screening (metal detectors and guards or something) people can bring anything they want onto campus. Anything that can be concealed from view in a vehicle, under someone's clothing can be brought onto campus. What about this do folks not understand?
