Today, Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Ray Grubbs followed a jury's recommendation that William Morva, 26, who killed Cpl. Eric Sutphin and hospital guard Derrick McFarland in August 2006, receive the death penalty

The manhunt for Morva locked down Virginia Tech's campus on the first day of school in August 2006.

The execution date is set for Oct. 21, 2008; however, Morva will automatically appeal the ruling.

Good riddance to a psychopath. Barring any voluntary drop in appeals, he'll be executed in 2013 or so.

Good riddance indeed. I went to high school w/ Morva. Knew him pretty well. He used to protest the death penalty at Amnesty International rallies. How funny is that. I love irony. He was a loser then, and is a loser now. He is lucky those cops that caught him didn't blow his dumbass away right then and there. He's lucky he was actually given a chance. Unlike the two men he killed. He won't be missed.

He seems like a really nice guy to me. He is just misunderstood.

It's too bad. He *was* a really nice guy. It's really awful that he did this, and it's worse that we think revenge will fix anything.
