Virginia Tech has suspended projected starting receiver Zach Luckett indefinitely, Frank Beamer announced Monday.

The Associated Press reported that this followed the redshirt sophomore's arrest for driving under the influence on Sunday -- his second drunken driving charge. Luckett was reportedly driving on a revoked license.

Luckett, 20, was projected to be a starter on a team that lost four receivers to graduation.  Brandon Dillard, who was also expected to start, injured his Achilles tendon during summer practice and will miss the entire 2008 season.

The Mays Landing, N.J., native played in every game last season, recording two catches for 18 yards while tallying 15 tackles on special teams. Ike Whitaker is now the only active wide receiver on the Tech roster with a single catch at the collegiate level.

Ha, once he a. pleads guilty or b. is found guilty Beamer better kick him off the team. There is no excuse... second DUI at 20, he doesn't deserve to go to college for free.

Hey 07 Alum "2nd DUI at 20." What would you consider a good age to get a first or second DUI? Very bad judgement on Luckett. You would hope he'd learn from the first, at least not to drive to bars again...Simply a Dumb-A@@. Absolutley nothing but a 'has been.' It sucks that DUI's can really screw up your life, especially exemplified in this manner. Guess he can go back to Jersey and sell crack.

No age is good for a DUI! Obviously, I didn't mean it like that. I am saying one DUI is bad enough, and then not to learn your lesson and drive AGAIN before you've even reached age 21. If you look @ people who have had more than one DUI under the age of 21 there is quite a pattern throughout their life usually. This kid will drink and drive again. And how ignorant... guess he can go back to Jersey and sell crack? At least wish him well. Hopefully he at least goes on to get a college degree.

Not to mention a recent drug test that just got swept under the rug

Really? Go back to Jersey and sell crack? Failing a drug test does not mean that he is a crack dealer. True it was irresponsible on his part to drink and drive, but there is no need for stereotyping.

Really the crack thing was just a joke. It's not stereotyping 06 alum. Also, considering that VT will suspend a "student" (non-athlete) for 2 Drunk in Public charges in a two-year period, their mickey mouse student legal department would definitly suspend him from taking classes for at least 1 or 2 semesters for that. Needless to say, I'll go out on a limb and guess (with cofidence) he's doesn't even have a 2.0 GPA. Needless to say, you see this all over the nation with athletes. DUI's suck, and each and everyone one of you out there can't claim that you couldn't have been pulled over and received one, you may have just used your head a little bit, unlike "luck-(not to much)-ett"

Yeah DUI's are serious business now. You can more easily get away with a possession of illegal drugs charges before a DUI is swept under the rug. real talk. at least it seems that way.

Well... even more serious is a second DUI... before 21... within 2? or 3? years of each other.
