You make good points in that our offensive line play has been sub-par at best, but it is still no excuse for Glennon. He is booed more for his attitude than his poor play. He plays great against the Dukes and UNC's, and he'll be the first to let you know how great he was after those cake walks. Then he'll choke against any team with a pulse. Afterwards he will let you know he played well "90% of the time" after throwing 0 TDs and 2 picks and blame the loss on the inexperience of the rest of the team. He is disliked and not respected because he is arrogant and shows no humility. We are all happy for him when he plays well, but when he has a clunker he needs to admit he played poorly. As a QB of a premier football program, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, in good times and bad. That's how you get respect and win the fans. And yes, Stinespring doesn't need to go, HAS to go.

Articles like this make this guy sound good. Do you watch the games?!?! 4.7 in the 40 but he has no pocket presence. I know everyone things he should start because he is a senior but based on talent you would have to have no football knowledge to actually think this guy is a good football player. Unless you think like him and believe he will play in the NFL?

I don't understand this article or the one posted on techsideline defending Glennon. Did we forget that his is the same Glennon that constantly criticizes his own coaches for being benched? I mean if he can criticize beamer why can’t fans criticize him? He is the same quarterback that thought his ECU performance was ok and that he was fine with playing well 90% of the time. Well that 10% of the time he played bad lost the game for us because he basically gave ECU 14 points (right before we were about to score and right before the half). This is the same Sean Glennon that blamed his first ECU INT on Greg Boone. When any idiot with a DVR can clearly see that he threw the ball high to a double covered man when everyone else was wide open! I understand your point, he has a more difficult time due to horrible blocking and even worse play calling. But he is defiantly not a part of the solution to fixing the problem. He blames everyone other than himself. He could be in a game where he throws 5 picks; we are losing 40-0 and thinks he should still be guy! (LSU) Maybe he wouldn’t get booed if he just shut his yap from the media and started to throw fewer interceptions! There is not excuse for INTs!! Sean Glennon is a big boy, if he can’t handle the booing then he is no were close to the NFL.

Glennon wasn't booed. Stinespring was booed for, what the crowd perceived as, him taking Tyrod out of the game.

While some fans are directly booing Glennon, most are really voicing their frustrations at the coaching staff. You state that Sean Glennon is a gifted athlete and can run a 4.7 second 40 yard dash and bench 375 pounds. That's nice, but unfortunately that doesn't directly translate to success on the field. He still has a knack for making poor decisions and often times at the most inopportune moments in the game. I realize that the issues in the passing game are compounded by poor pass protection and a lack of experience in the receiving corps. But you forget that Glennon was still making these mistakes when Tech had the most talented receiving corps in school history, with Eddie Royal, Josh Morgan, Justin Harper, and Josh Hyman. With the offensive line playing so poorly, it's clear that a pocket passer is ill suited for leading our offense. The coaching staff should play the best player suited for the situation, and it's obvious to fans that Tyrod Taylor with his scrambling ability should be the one taking snaps at QB. I believe the coaching staff feels for Glennon because he's a senior and he has some talent. Glennon would probably do well if Tech had a great pass protecting offensive line, but unfortunately that's not what the team has. It's time for them to stop trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Very well said Respect This and 2005Hokie. It's just beyond ridiculous at this point. When Bryan Randall had a bad game he never cried to the media about how he played well 90% of the time, the fans were jealous, he shouldn't be benched, etc. He said what he needed to improve and what he didn't like about his play. Glennon is a coddled crybaby. HE IS A FIFTH YEAR SENIOR FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! Learn, adjust, adapt, move on. He shouldn't be booed, but he needs to stop talking to the media.

While I can understand that most of you are frustrated at the situation the sputtering Hokie offense finds itself in, I'd like for you to consider a thing or two. One, you committed to getting your education at VT. Nobody held a frigging gun to your head and forced you to come. So you've made a commitment to supporting VT and the values that we hold dear, whether you feel that you have or not. You're wearing maroon and orange, aren't you? Two, if you consider yourself a part of something, a group, a team, a relationship, whatever, should you be assaulting the people in the same boat as you? No, you should be supporting them, especially when they need your support, ie during a game when there's an opposing team plenty willing to heap on the hurt without your help. If you don't like Glennon or Stinespring, then stay quiet when you're in Lane Stadium, or just don't show up, period. Nobody in the world can tell whether you're booing Glennon, Stinespring, both, or neither. We can only see a bunch of idiots booing their own team. You want to boo your own team, go to Rutgers.

Glennon is no Favre or Brady. While you bring up the fact that Favre holds the record for most interceptions thrown in a career. You leave out that he also holds the most passing touchdowns in a career. Not to mention leading his team to a Super Bowl Win. Tom Brady has lead his team to 3 Super Bowl Wins and is considered one of the most clutch QBs ever to play in the NFL. Sean Glennon thinks clutch is beating teams that you're supposed to blowout *coughs* Duke *coughs*. Sean Glennon has delusions of grandeur. He's the only person in the entire stadium that thinks he's an NFL caliber player. Don't get me started on Stinespring. Tech might set an NCAA record for offensive futility. Someone needs to tell the man that running 30 draw plays and screens in a game doesn't work when the defense is expecting it. A little play-action on second or third and short wouldn't hurt either. An Xbox360 or PS3 running in the coaches booth would do a better job calling offensive plays than him.

Are you kidding me? How can you still think Glennon is our QB!? Have you watched any of the games? Yes he may have talent but to be honest he was a recruiting mistake for this team. His style is not suited for our offense like others on here have said. Personally, If I were glennon, I would have transferred after the 2006 season in hopes to excel on another offense best suited for a pocket passer. Shoot, why not transfer prior to this season even to BC. They lost Matt Ryan. Anyway, while I agree he should not be booed nor any player should unless he commited a crime on the field, they also shouldn't play him either. That is dumb strategy. It doesn't matter if he's a 5th year, he's already proven he's still not compatible with our offense especially with our horrible O line.

Maybe a pocket passes who looks for the open receiver before making best friends with the ground. Glennon needs to realize he peaked in high school and accept the fact he now sucks.

First, the comparison of Glennon to Favre is moronic. Second, as it appears to the fans through his public comments, Glennon is me-first player. It may be different in the huddle. If that's the case, why then would there be any talk of a lack of respect for him within the team? Third, and most importantly, no college player should ever be booed, ever. And a point that most probably don't consider, think of the recruits sitting in attendance at the game... not a good impression.

You are blaming the wrong guy...its the coaches stupid. Same lame play-calling for the past 6 years...some teams have just taken longer to figure it out than others. The disappoint is in our "coach" who has gone into "excuse mode" versus "solutions mode". Its a business, run it like one.

You all make good points and I belive that no college athlete should be booed by his own fans. The O-line and poor play calling are to blame here. I have been going to games since I was 3 and the offense has looked much the same for 26 years now. Glennon has been conditioned to look at the rush instead of looking for open recivers. If his first option is covered the play is over. That is why Tyrod gives you a better option in this case. He can make you miss then run away from you. 4.7 in the 40 is great but you have to be able to make guys miss. The linebakers of today all have 4.5 4.6 speed also. Anyway the whole issue comes to Beamer's loyalty he is loyal to a fault. That is why we will see two QB's and suffer though many more seasons of Steinsping.

I will bet they will still use Glennon in plays when they should use Tyrod today like in the red zone. Today Stinespring will run the ball on 3rd downs and long. He will always run the ball up the middle. The defense will expect the run and what will he do? Run the ball. Same similar pattern since I was a freshman in 06. We may get a score or two by Georgia Tech error and maybe a turn over. But I think we'll loose this one by a touch down. Believe me I'm a hokie fan at heart, but from what i've seen last saturday and with GT beating BC. I'm picking GT for this game by one touch down. VT : 10 GT: 17 or VT :17 GT :24 depending on how much scoring can actually happen.

However, by the small chance Stinespring is struck with strategy, this is how we can pull a win today. Use tyrod at least 3 out of 4 times if not the whole time. Ideally he should be in the whole game and glennon should ONLY be in if Tyrod needs a rest or is injured. Glennon MUST not be in when in the red zone. Blocking will still be the same, can't fix that in a week. If our kicker continues to make his kicks and IF Stinespring takes the field goal on 4th downs whenever possible! Can't gamble like that with our O-line especially before the 4th quarter. If he decide's to run, put in the player who has the best performance (darren Evans). Not boone or kenny lewis, Evan's needs the reps. Take more down the field throws. I love it when we take down the field throws especially bombers. I feel we make at least 1 out of every 2 we do. Stop with the running every down and mix it up a little bit. Do this and we should have a good game. If it's predictable like in my last post, we will loose.

Can I get one of those "Flag Abuse" reporting buttons for this article? Now, I am not an avid fan of Tyrod Taylor. Yea, he can run. But I really don't see him as a great quarterback because of his arm (or lack thereof). However, Glennon is no solution. He thinks he's better than he is, instead of wishing he was better than he is. I especially support the comment that said if Glennon can publically complain about his coaches, fans should be able to boo him.

He wouldn't even put his helmet on or the headset/clipboard. What a selfish, selfcentered, arrogant loser! God I hope Tyrod stays healthy. This article is pure bologna!

While these are valid comments, Glennon showed us last year how much of a Hokie he was when he publicly spoke out against Beamer and the entire Hokie team because of being replaced by Taylor. We as fan should not boo our players, but the players in return need to be Hokies and support the decisions of the head coach. I agree with VT600rr, Glennon is not a good sport as he believes he deserves the position of quarterback instead of earning it. He needs to grow up and suck it up! Glennon needs to remember that Hokies are not fair-weather fans and if he plans on staying a Hokie (if he can live up to that standard) he needs to stop the whining and prove that he is worthy of the title of quarterback.

The coaches made a great call on Saturday letting Tyrod take all of the snaps. This guy is 6-0 while starting games and criticize the play calling / line / etc. all you want. He is exciting, fits well in our offense, keeps his mouth shut & wins games. Looking forward to the next few years.

Please don't ever compare Glennon to Favre again. I can't even believe Beamer mentioned something like "Glennon will be a fine NFL player." I bet he was laughing on the inside during that. Glennon is the most underachieving arrogant quarterback I've seen in a long time. It is as if he feels he is entitled to play under center. People are not just booing Glennon, they are booing that offensive line as well, and Stinespring, and probably Weaver all at once. Booing is part of sports and I will boo whomever I feel deserves it. Since when have football players (Vince Young) and fellow fans become such babies about someone stating their opinion. Stop trying to make football a tea party!! If our beast of men football players or any football player can't handle criticism then they should be working bake sales.

As a former player for this university, I would like to mention this article has some merit. Glennon had less than 2 seconds on pass plays against Furman, plays that take at least 3 seconds to develop. This powder puff line is the problem. Another thing is it has become TECHs unofficial policy to want the next quarterback. In 2002 we had another pocket quarterback in Grant Noel (sp? and do not care) but we wanted Bryan Randall, once we got him in 2003 we were calling for Marcus Vick, and then when Vick became the starter we called for none other than SEAN GLENNON to be our starter and then we wanted Ike and now Tyrod. This is crap. We are the only fans who blame our players for our coaches mistakes. WE DO NOT RECRUIT LINEMAN, WE DO NOT RECRUIT WIDE RECIEVERS, TIGHTENDS, WE ARE A TEAM OF DEFENSIVE PLAYERS WITH CONVERTED QUARTERBACKS AT OUR SKILL POSITIONS. Glennon does make mistakes and Tyrod is the quarterback for this team but it is not Glennons fault he has a tight end as a tackle, overated guards and receivers who cannot catch that would be Beamer and Stinesprings fault but no one is saying beamer should go even though we have NEVER WON A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
