1st Quarter
-Cincinnati opens the game up with a bang, scoring just two minutes into regulation. Bearcat quarterback Tony Pike found wide receiver Mardy Gilyard - getting one foot in bounds and hauling in the quick score from 15 yards out. 7-0, Cincinnati.
Second Quarter
-The Hokies venture 73 yards on nine plays following a missed field goal try by the Bearcats. Tyrod Taylor caps the drive with an elusive 17-yard touchdown run on third down. It's the sophomore quarterback's seventh rushing touchdown on the season. All tied, 7-7.
-Both teams trade off interceptions, the latter coming when Pike was picked by Stephan Virgil in the end zone. Tech made the most of the defensive stop, concluding the first half of play with a 43 yard field goal by Dustin Keys. The Hokie placekicker earlier missed a try from 26 yards out. 10-7 Hokies at halftime.
Third Quarter
-The first drive of the second half results in another three-pointer from Keys - this time the distance was 35 yards. The 12-play possession took 6:25 off the Dolphin Stadium clock. Tech builds their lead to 13-7.
Fourth Quarter
-Orion Martin gets a crucial pick deep in Cinci territory. On third down, running back Darren Evans continues a solid second half with a third down touchdown run. The Hokies open up to a 20-7 advantage with about 11 minutes to go.
