Local firefighters responded to a forest fire Sunday along Mount Tabor Road in Blacksburg.
The Blacksburg fire department and two Roanoke County engine companies responded to the blaze along Mount Tabor road in an area abutting the Jefferson National Forest north of Blacksburg.
The fire resulted in charred and smoldering trees and brush, but no damage to homes and no serious injuries - although one man had to be taken to hospital for minor smoke inhalation injuries according to eyewitness Linda Vaden.
Firefighters are engaged in follow-up procedures to prevent a fire reigniting.
