Tech sent six divers to Knoxville, Tenn., last week to compete in the 2009 NCAA Diving Zone B Qualifier.

Junior Mikey McDonald, sophomore Daniel Martin and freshman Trevor Michalak represented the H2Okie men, while sophomore Sarah Milton along with freshmen Cara Murnan and Natalie West competed for the women.

McDonald led the H2Okie squad with two fifth place finishes in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events, locking up a bid for him at the NCAA Championships later this week.

The trip to the finals will be the second for McDonald of his three-year career with Tech, at which he will compete in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform dive.

Not lost on the day was the performance of Martin, who posted a score of 268.65 on the 3-meter and finished in 35th place.

Leading the way for the women was Murnan, who had a stellar showing in her first visit to the qualifiers. She posted a score of 474.85, good enough for an eighth in the platform dive event.

In College Station, Texas, McDonald and the H2Okie women swimmers will take part in the NCAA Championships. Competition will start on Thursday when the swimmers hit the pool at 11 a.m.
