MALICIOUS WOUNDING
Blacksburg police have charged Virginia Tech student Warren Joseph McCabe with malicious wounding in connection to an assault Monday evening that occurred in the 300 block of Ingles Court, just behind Lane Stadium. Police responded to Montgomery Regional Hospital to investigate an assault at 11:50 p.m. The investigation revealed that John Nesmith, a 20-year old junior finance student at Tech, had been found lying in the road with "severe facial injuries." Friends transported the victim to the hospital for treatment.
McCabe is a 24-year old graduate student studying finance and is being held in Montgomery County Jail without bond. McCabe had an arraignment hearing scheduled for this morning in Montgomery County General District Court.

I am shocked at the outcome of this. John Nesmith belongs in jail. John and his violent ATO fraternity brother's attacked several people at a St. Patrick's day party. Several people were hurt because of John Nesmith. There were witnesses who knew this was self defense on Warren's part. I was surprised Warren was charged at all. John Nesmith was underage drinking, in posession of a fake ID, attacked people, and got nothing. I guess John claiming he didn't remember anything worked.

Warren landed John in the hospital. Using brass knuckles after John left him is not considered "self defense". Thats why that jerk landed himself in prison. John is a great guy and didn't deserve this at all. Don't believe all the bull this guy tells you, because in the end he plead guilty because he knows he did it.

To the person above: You are so misinformed, 2 guys fought 2 guys at a party. There were no brass knuckles, it was a St. Patty's day party. Where are you getting this stuff from? If there were brass knuckles involved, it would have been brought out in the case. Have you seen Warren, he was obviously able to defend himself after being attacked by John?! There were plenty of witnesses who saw John attack Warren(it was self defense).
John Nesmith is a pothead and deserves to be in jail for what he did. The only reason Warren plead guilty to assault was to avoid risking a felony, a real shame. He also NEVER went to prison. He got a slap on the wrist(thank god), he was never in prison or jail for a year. Try getting informed before you comment on your buddy. Let me guess, your one of his parents who think your son has never done anything wrong? John Nesmith is a lying puss*.

Actually, I felt I had to comment on this when my friend told me this was out here. So many people have been so misinformed about this. There were no brass knuckles, these are college students, not people from a seedy bar somewhere. The rumors that have circulated from the start have all been false, including the reports that he went to jail. The guy did plead guilty to assault a misdemeanor, only because he didn't want to risk getting a felony if it was taken to trial and he lost. It wasn't worth the risk on his future. His family even said to plead guilty even though he wasn't bc his future would have been ruined with a felony. That weasel John Nesmith got nothing and deserved to.
