A shooting at Radford University resulted in a single death after a man was shot in the chest, according to Radford police and news reports.
The university is on lockdown while Radford police look for a male suspect involved in the shooting at 9 p.m Thursday evening in the 500 block of Calhoun Street in Radford. The victim has been identified as Floyd Wilfred-Linn Wright Jr., 33, of Christiansburg.
The shooter is still at-large.
The university sent emergency alerts Thursday evening. The text alert said, "Seek shelter City is searching for a black male shooter no shirt, camo jacket do rag."
The suspect was last seen traveling on foot on Jefferson Street, and is considered armed and dangerous, according to a news release.
At 11:34 p.m., Radford's alert system issued the following message: "Attention. RUPD and the Radford City Police have established checkpoints and a command center. No further sightings of the suspect at this time. Building searches are ongoing. Stay in your room and keep all doors locked. Updates to come."
