Once again, both the men and women's Virginia Tech track teams flexed their muscles in the long distance legs and relays of Friday and Saturday's meet held in Williamsburg, Va. The Hokies divided, with a minority of the team putting up regionally qualifying times in the Texas Relays in Austin and the rest of the runners representing Tech at the Colonial Relays.
Queen Harrison and Asia Washington conquered Texas in grabbing first and second place in 400-meter hurdles, respectively.
In Williamsburg, the men's relay team broke the previous Tech record in the 4x800 meter relay, posting a time of 7:26.98.
It set the bar high for the women's team, who answered the call by finishing first in the distance medley relay with a time of 11:39.67.
The Hokie men's squad took second in the same event in Williamsburg, giving up first to Yale by a little over a second.
Individually, the dependable Kristi Castlin took second in the 100-meter dash, while Natalie Sherbak claimed first place out of a field of 66 runners in the women's 1500-meter run.
