The Hokies shot a three-round total of 862 in the Administaff Augusta State Invitational at the par-72, 7,161-yard Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., this weekend. The team came in ninth out of a pool of 17 teams.
Senior Drew Weaver and redshirt junior Matt Boyd led the team. Both earned totals of two-under-par 214, tying for 31st place overall.
Augusta State also took the top spot overall by posting a total of 36-under-par 828.
The field of 17 teams included nine that were ranked in the nation's top 50.
South Carolina-Aiken had the highest ranking going into the tourney at fifth, but finished in the 10th position, two strokes behind Tech.
No. 59 Virginia Tech looks to its last tournament, the River Landing Intercollegiate in Wallace, N.C., to improve before the ACC championships on April 17.
