A Virginia Tech student died Tuesday as a result of a skateboarding accident.
Sean Logan, a senior engineering science and mechanics major from Waxhaw, N.C. died on May 26, the university reports.
He was found bleeding from the head by a Blacksburg resident at the intersection of Progress Street and Patrick Henry Drive, and taken to Montgomery Regional Hospital.
Logan was eventually transferred to the Carilion Roanoke Hospital, where he died.
He was the second Tech student to die within the last six months from a skateboarding accident. Greg Weiner, a freshman engineering student, died on campus in December.
Dean of Students Tom Brown told the Roanoke Times that the university is considering adding helmet safety to its health education.

He died as a result of a skateboarding accident on Shenandoah Circle. Apparently, he was not wearing a helmet at the time. What an unfortunate loss.

Good move on Virginia Techs part to have safety classed. Banning skating would not help anything, I'm glad they realize this. Also my heart goes out to the friends and family of student who died. ---Does anyone know how long he was laying there hurt before he was found. Wear a helmet dont skate alone

i used to this it was 'uncool' to wear a helmet. but now i realize why my parents are always bugging me about it. i will be sure to wear my helmet when ever i got out boarding. i also this that adding helmet safety to their helth program is a better idea that banning skateboarding all together.
