May 29, 2009 | by CT news staff

A Virginia Tech student died Tuesday as a result of a skateboarding accident.

Sean Logan, a senior engineering science and mechanics major from Waxhaw, N.C. died on May 26, the university reports.

He was found bleeding from the head by a Blacksburg resident at the intersection of Progress Street and Patrick Henry Drive, and taken to Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Logan was eventually transferred to the Carilion Roanoke Hospital, where he died.

He was the second Tech student to die within the last six months from a skateboarding accident. Greg Weiner, a freshman engineering student, died on campus in December.

Dean of Students Tom Brown told the Roanoke Times that the university is considering adding helmet safety to its health education.
