The Virginia Tech athletics department announced assistant coach Mike Brizendine's move to head men's soccer coach.
Brizendine will take the place of former head coach Oliver Weiss, who resigned June 3.
"Mike Brizendine possesses the skills we value in our head coaches," Director of Athletics Jim Weaver said in a release from the athletics department. "He has a great deal of experience in coaching, including three seasons as a collegiate head coach. Mike is respected as an outstanding recruiter and is proven to be an effective communicator."
Brizendine has been the top assistant coach at Tech since 2004, and was the head coach at Bridgewater College from 2001 to 2003.
