Lynchburg's Heritage Baptist Church hosted funeral services Monday for two Virginia Tech students found dead in a local forest, allowing friends and family to share reflections on their lost loved ones.
The services for David Metzler and Heidi Childs revealed how they lived their lives, as well as what they were doing when they were killed.
Don Childs, Heidi's father, said during her funeral that she and David had gone on a special date as Heidi considered switching to a pre-med minor.
"They were going to have a camp fire-Heidi probably lighting it," Childs said. "It never happened. The angels came and escorted them to heaven."
He said they loved the outdoors.
Music from both funerals was selected from among Metzler and Childs' favorites.

My sincere condolences to the families of the victims. Losing a child is a pain like no other. I hope they find the strength in the days, weeks and months ahead to come to peace. I apologize to the forum for speculating about alternative scenarios concerning this crime, now that it is been disclosed that they were up there to light a night time campfire. In the vacuum of details, sometimes one has the tendency to jump to conclusions.

Your sentiments are appreciated, Fred. It's good to ask questions about such scenarios to be sure the story is understood clearly. It is a very sad loss for the Hokie Community.

Photoshopped Image Killer has developed software for faux photo detection, also known as digital forensics. Indeed, with digital evidence being used more and more in the courtroom, both the prosecution and the defense want to be sure that exhibit A is really what it seems. Any time you have digital evidence, either side can raise the specter of digital manipulation.
