Junior Robert Stieber died Monday in his hometown of Harrisonburg, Va.
The 22 year-old mining engineering major was found after police believed he jumped off a six-story parking deck of Rockingham Memorial Hospital in his hometown.
According to reports from the Daily News Record in Harrisonburg a spokesperson for the Harrisonburg Police Department said a missing persons report was filed about eight hours before Stieber was found. The report said that Stieber had "suicidal tendencies."
A funeral mass was held Thursday morning in Harrisonburg.

I knew Bob, he was one of my good friends. I was so sad to hear this news, he was such a nice person. My prayers go out to his family and friends

...whats going on? seems like every other month a tech student died. its so sad considering how great the university is.

It's not that uncommon. In March, 1997, Doug Ainey, a freshman from Exton, PA, jumped from the top of the eastern stands at Lane Stadium and fatally hit the asphalt below. In November, 2007, Jonathan Jones jumped out of the seventh window of Pritchard Hall to his death.
