Authorities are searching a motel parking lot in Charlottesville in relation to the case of missing Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington.

A release from the Virginia State Police confirmed an earlier WCAV-TV report that police had shut down the parking lot of a Comfort Inn in Charlottesville near Interstate 64.

The WCAV-TV report said Virginia State Police, UVa Police and Albemarle County authorities were on scene. The report said the parking lot, not the motel, was the point of interest.

The release said police are "simply following up on another tip that came in about some suspicious activity." Nothing has developed from the lead at this point, according to the release.

What kind of friends enjoy a concert without their friend who is locked out and cannot reenter. Really wonderful friends huh!!! If they had shown concern for her maybe she would still be here and safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I certainly hope the Harrington Family sues UVA into oblivion. Since when can't a person with a valid ticket not re-enter the concert? All is needed is 1 usher to stamp the person's hand and 1 re-entry point like is done at minor league baseball games. It should now be known that UVA is a dangerous place to hold a concert there and the music industry should stay from the campus until the no re-entry rule is changed.

Let's hope that she's found before we talk lawsuits, and let's not go condemning Charlottesville for an isolated incident, as it is probably a much safer area than many other concert venues with similar policies. I'd rather be stuck waiting at the curb at JPJ than Verizon Center or FedEx Field. No re-entry is not an uncommon policy, and is usually well posted at every exit point (see our very own Lane Stadium, Nissan Pavilion, and the aforementioned Verizon Center and FedEx Field for just a few examples). Generally, there are exceptions made for emergencies. Other than that, why would you need to leave anyway? It's just an unnecessary hassle to screen people back through security, not to mention, at venues that don't serve alcohol, dealing with people running out to get drunk in the parking lot and staggering back in. As usual, everyone seems anxious to speculate despite having little knowledge of the circumstances. As for the questions about her friends, how do we know that they didn't offer to leave and she assured them that she'd be fine waiting it out?

Lets see 2 students shot last weekend in their car, my friends daughter(student)had her and friends pocket books stolen from house when they went out for just a few minutes. Parents house keys, car keys cameras, CC, all identity and info, but let a laptop sitting right there.

CC had a hit not long after on a decline at a MI strip club.

And that's just what I know through the grapevine without searching. real safe place.

There is a culture of arrogance and elitism at UVA and being above the law and personal responsibility, it's liberal for gosh sake. "Laws are them not us!" I say sue too. Hitting that pocket is all they understand.

It has come to light that Harrington left the arena without her ticket stub. Thus she couldn't prove to the ushers that she had purchased a seat and was returning legitimately versus someone trying to sneak in to see the show without paying.

No reentry is common at big arenas. Think about how easy it would be to sneak in extra people if you were allowed to go and come with tickets. You go in with your group of 4, one person leaves with theirs and 3 other tickets and you come back with 3 people who didn't come in the first time. Now you have 7 people who have paid for four tickets. It then becomes an overcrowded and dangerous place inside. Minor league baseball is a different deal from a major concert or major league sports. The tickets are cheaper and the seating is usually not as competitive so there is usually little reason for people to want to sneak in.
