Police search motel parking lot in case of missing Tech student

October 24, 2009 | by ct news staff

Authorities are searching a motel parking lot in Charlottesville in relation to the case of missing Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington.

A release from the Virginia State Police confirmed an earlier WCAV-TV report that police had shut down the parking lot of a Comfort Inn in Charlottesville near Interstate 64.

The WCAV-TV report said Virginia State Police, UVa Police and Albemarle County authorities were on scene. The report said the parking lot, not the motel, was the point of interest.

The release said police are "simply following up on another tip that came in about some suspicious activity." Nothing has developed from the lead at this point, according to the release.
