This is horrible. "Chant guides, which are used at schools such as Duke and UVA..." Need I say more?
Just MAKE NOISE on defense. No need to look up cheers on a sheet and say ridiculous things like "dribble dribble". Come on, really? And the scoreboard chant after the game is really dumb... I would literally be embarrassed to be among students doing this cheer.
Also, for this particular game the "Go back to Vermont" and "Tree Hugger" chants sound immature and ignorant, respectively.

hahahaha are they serious with the chant guides? Damn, can we copy Duke anymore? I watched two games last night on TV. Kentucky and Maryland both had games, they had loud fans and amazingly no cheer sheets! These programs have a lot of tradition and great fanbases and if they don't need cheer sheets we sure don't.
Lets concentrate on being loud and getting alumni to donate tickets to students when they can't make it because that will make Cassell a better environment than some crappy cheers about going back to Vermont.

The cheer sheet idea is lame. If they really want to be intimidating, they need to fight the athletic department for a "wrap around" student section like every other big time program. The older alumni have proven they do not care for basketball and are often empty. Give the seats to the students. As for fan attire, go full "raider nation" style with everyone as rowdy as possible.

I really like the general's idea bc we need a bball atmosphere to fend off all the other schools in our own house. the chant sheets are kind of ridiculous but might be good to start some long time bball chants related to us. the chants directed at the other team may are a little cheesy.

We have finally made some ground with the Hokie Respect program at football games. We got glowing praise from the Nebraska fans that visited this year. So what do we do.... start chant sheets with insulting cheers for the other team in basketball?
Make noise, support the team, make Cassell the best home court advantage in the country. Encourage those around you to stand up and yell. But don't stoop down to the level of other schools in the ACC. Take the high road and represent the university well.
I do love the idea of the Cassell Guard. I like having vocal fans who are into the game up front. Why not try something new and different.... learn the words to fight song, the school cheer, etc. Come up with some cheers for the team instead of against he other team. Make people wish their school was more like ours instead of saying we are as bad as someone else.
