Blacksburg Police are investigating a fire early Thursday morning that left one man in critical condition.

At 3:43 a.m. on Jan. 14, 2010, the Blacksburg Fire Department responded to a call at the Holiday Inn on Prices Fork Road. Responders found a badly burned victim, who was later identified as Norman Silva, a 28-year-old from Indiana. Officials noted the hotel’s sprinkler system had contained the fire before their arrival.

Silva, whose status was listed as critical, was taken to Bowman Grey Hospital at Wake Forest for further treatment.

Police are encouraging those at the hotel after 9 p.m. Wednesday contact them at 540-961-1150 or 540-961-1819.
