The state of Virginia re-opened eight rest stops along multiple interstates yesterday.
These rest stops were some of the 19 that were closed by former Gov. Tim Kaine last year.
Gov. Bob McDonnell attended the reopening of a rest stop on I-85 in Dinwiddie.
Other rest stops that will open include two on I-66 in Manassas, two on I-81 in Mount Sidney and two on I-95 in Dale City. The remaining 11 are scheduled to reopen by April 15.
The Virginia Department of Transportation said it will use its emergency maintenance reserve fund to operate the rest stops until June 30, after which time it will identify long-term funding to continue to keep the rest stops open.

and where did this funding magically come from?
Virginia is going to go down the toilet fast with McDonnell at the helm.

Sorry. You lost. Get over it. Obama is a failure of a president and his failure is going to spill over into the cups of government and congressional elections. You had your chance. You swayed the independents and you betrayed them. If you think this is bad, wait until November.

So where did the money come from? What is McDonnell going to cut funding from so that we can have rest stops again? Sounds like a legitimate question to me.

You're a liberal and seem to be an expert on spending without knowledge of where the money will come from. Maybe you can tell me? Are you really going to slight McDonnell for opening rest stops when your boy the O-man is about to spend our earnings and our children's earnings on health care? Nice try, FDR

Fox News lies, don't listen to them. The HCR bill will save $130 BILLION this decade.

The healthcare bill will also cost $980 billion up front, but that's beside the point. This is about rest stops and McDonnell not cutting wasteful spending, which was what I elected him to do.

whats it like being told what to believe by fox news?

VDOT made it very clear in their original press release that the funding was coming from a redistribution of funds within VDOT.

It's not like it costs a lot of money to run a rest stop. Closing them was just a bit of grandstanding by the former administration, a way to whine for more money by closing cheap but vital services.

You can hold your pee for a few more miles if it ultimately means cheaper tutition.

From my experience lobbying on the hill and reading the actual Senate Bills/House Bills and seeing how Dems/Repubs vote...here is the conclusion
They are the same person.
Dems raise taxes...Republican raise "fees" -- they just don't call em taxes.

Quit aggrandizing yourself, you don't have some magic insights.

Finally! I'm glad they opened the rest stops again. It was annoying having to exit the interstate to take a bio break on the drive from nova to school.
I think a dedicated portion of the gas tax should fund the gas tax.
