Stephan Bieri, chairman of the scientific advisory board at Virginia Tech’s Biomatics Institute and an internationally recognized consultant, will deliver the keynote address at the graduate commencement ceremony Friday afternoon.
Bieri earned a doctorate in economics from the University of Zurich, Switzerland in 1968. He worked as a professor at Kent University in Canterbury, United Kingdom and at the University of Zurich. He had served on the board for the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology as well as the university council of the University of Bayreuth in Germany.
Bieri also runs a consulting firm with his daughter. He has published extensively on the topics of fiscal federalism, regional budget incidence and planning theory. His consulting services specialize in scientific evaluation and intellectual property.
