Tech Police are asking for any information about Alexander Leland Tucker's whereabouts. His hair might not match the photo, as it was recently cut for corps of cadets activities.
Virginia Tech Police have located missing Tech student Alexander Tucker.
He was found walking along a road a few miles from campus around noon Tuesday, according to a Tech police press release.
Virginia Tech Police had been looking for Tucker since he was noticed missing today at 5 a.m.
Tucker is a freshman mathematics major in the corps of cadets from Chesapeake, Va., and was last seen in Brodie Hall on Monday, Aug. 16 at 11 p.m.
"Tucker is a white male, 18 years old, 5 foot, 8 inches tall, 180 pounds, blonde hair that is closely cut in a military style, blue eyes, and may be wearing glasses. He is believed to be wearing white and blue running shoes," a press release this morning said.

Lol maybe this is a rare case of "subliminal distraction" that one guy named LTucker or something was advocating on these boards last year. Good thing he was found alive, the next question is what was he doing? Maybe just exercising or running?
Otherwise maybe it was a bad case of sleep walking?

More than likely he didn't like the corps and was trying to leave as a freshman you start early and enter a boot camp most freshman cadets have no idea what they are in for and i bet he had had enough....its not unusual to have cadets drop out or ask to be put in the regular population but this is why they have check in till cadets are turned. It also reinforces the fact that you are a unit and you should always know where everyone in your unit is...

Looks like a case of AWOL. He's not officially a member of the Corps of Cadets, so what consequences does he face?

I guess it sorta makes sense if he was escaping participation in the corps since their day usually starts at 5am. I guess there are not many places to go "drop off the map" at 5am which is probably what he wanted to do.

He met a hookup on Craigslist; or had gone out drinking
the night before (even though underage) and met someone
who lives out in Luster's Gate; or maybe...we need a clear,
short statement from him as to what he did which in turn:
Activated the VT Alert System
Got regional news media broadcasting his disappearance
Caused anxiety for the 180,000 residents of the NRV Metro Area who thought, "Not again"
THIS IS A CLEAR EXAMPLE of why yes, we need to be "cautious" about alerting our
VT Students about issues BUT AT THE SAME TIME our VT STUDENTS MUST act responsibly
on their own. It takes me back to Jason Cho and the accusations against VT: "Why didn't
you tell us?" Um, because just like with this kid, you expect people to act normally and
not 'vanish' in the night only to be found on a desolate road walking alone the next morning.
Proof that it just "isn't that easy" to identify when something is wrong AND when something
is not wrong.

"Caused anxiety for the 180,000 residents of the NRV Metro Area who thought, "Not again."
Make that 179,999 residents because I just now found out about the incident, 12 hours after they found him.
"THIS IS A CLEAR EXAMPLE..." of why people need to stop freaking out.

A friend was asking me what stupid looked like and fortunately
I ran across the wire photo of the missing Alexander Tucker!
I mean, come on people, we're still dealing with the unsolved
murders in the Jefferson Forest, the Harrington case and the
effects of one Mr. Jason Cho. So, now we have a student who
takes off on his own without telling anyone? How dumb can one
be? Really. Not kidding. Sounds like he needs to reimburse Town,
County and State Police as well as anyone else who had to be alerted
to his going missing.

They couldn't brainwash the kid, good for him.

For sure. Wish everyone else would follow his lead. No cannon fodder = no more wars of aggression from the Bush/Obama administrations.

Good example for all the other kiddie cadets - run while you still have the chance.
