Blacksburg Police are investigating a strong armed robbery that occurred around 2:00 am behind the Chipotle restaurant.

In a timely notice e-mail sent Tuesday morning, Virginia Tech Police said the female victim was approached from behind by a "pale skinned" white male, who took a purse before running away in the direction of Progress Street and Turner Street.

The suspect was described as about five foot ten inches in height and approximately 185 pounds with black or dark hair about one inch in length. He was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, black pants and black boots.

No weapon was reported in the release.

Those with additional information about the incident are asked to call Blacksburg Police Department investigators at (540) 961-1150.

Typical petty crime, at least there was no harm done. You'd like to think Blacksburg is a safe place, lets try to keep it that way.

Women need to use common sense like trying to avoid dark lit and back alleys during early morning hours. Travel in groups if you can't avoid them.
