The InnovationSpace is a multimedia computer lab located in Torgerson Hall open to the students, faculty, and staff of Virginia Tech, as well as the local general public. It’s mission is to provide assistance through free and open access to software, hardware, and specially-trained staff.

The lab offers one-on-one assistance with programs such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and many other advanced computer programs.

Students often use the help and programs at InnovationSpace to complete class projects that they may not have access to otherwise. The use of all programs and in-person help are free to students and faculty alike.

InnovationSpace also provides VHS, DVD and CD dubbing and duplicating for students.

From recording and editing video and audio to preparing graphics for print or digital uses and building websites, InnovationSpace is a useful resource for multimedia practice and learning.

The lab also loans out digital audio recorders, digital still cameras, video cameras, and video camera accessories.

Digital audio recorders, digital still cameras, standard-definition digital video cameras, and a limited number of high-definition digital video cameras may be checked out on a first-come basis for up to three days.

Students can come to the lab in groups and receive individual help in a classroom located in the InnovationSpace complete with a touch screen SmartBoard for easy teaching purposes.
