Virginia State Police released a composite sketch a year ago in connection with the Morgan Harrington case.

A year has passed since the Virginia State Police released a sketch of a man, who was forensically linked to the disappearance and death of Virginia Tech student, Morgan Harrington.
The City of Fairfax released a sketch of a man from an abduction and sexual assault case in 2005. The Virginia Department of Forensic Science confirmed that the DNA matched, connecting the two different crimes.
According to Virginia State Police, the composite sketch brought in hundreds of new tips on the invidiual at large.
"This is extremely encouraging as the information we get from local citizens is important because they are most familiar with the surroundings and habits of their neighbors and associates," said Lt. Joe Rader, Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Appomattox Field Office, in a press release.
Harrington, 20, of Roanoke, went missing from the University of Virginia while attending a Metallica concert on Oct. 17, 2009. Her remains were found in southern Albermale County on Jan. 26, 2010.
The public is still encouraged to contact either agency with information related to these two active cases. Those with information about the man in the sketch may contact City of Fairfax Police Detective Mike Boone at 703-385-7959.

A reward of $150,041 is still available for anyone with information that leads to a successful resolution of the Harrington crime.

All letters to the editor must include a name, e-mail, daytime phone number and affiliation to Virginia Tech. Affiliation includes: year and major for students; position and department for faculty and staff; current city for alumni and parents.
This suspect will likely be identified when he is arrested and convicted for another crime in Virginia, whereby his DNA profile will be taken upon his arrival into prison. Then it can be matched against the cold case files of the Virginia Department of Forensic Science. They do HAVE DNA profile samples taken from Ms. Harrington's remains that would have come from her assailant.

Please do not rule the other 5 states that border Virginal. The East Coast Rapist shows that cooperation amongst states and D.C. results in positive endings.
ECR had a lot a lot of results that did not relate to ECR, but much was discovered. At the time, many cases in Virginia were revisited.
Just lets make sure none of us are suggesting that VSP is just waiting for another crime. Because, that is not true!

Not a witch hunt, not a rant, not accusing a group, individual, or institution. Acknowledging the need to prioritize and to thank those that have tried. The article request as does he for locals to continue.
His team is focused and the case will solve, not due to rhetoric, hate, haste nor pressure.
