As the president of Hillel, Jewish Life on campus, and an Israel advocate in the U.S., I found the advertisement titled “Muslim Arab-Anti Semitism” offensive and repulsive. I am not familiar with the organization FLAME, but I hope that the Virginia Tech community knows the Jewish community on campus does not support or endorse them in any way.
This article does not represent the ideas of Jewish or pro-Israel voices on our campus. Hateful articles like this are what have continued the silence on direct negotiations between Israelis and Arabs in the Middle East. Hate speech from either side that de-humanizes the “other” is the largest barrier to future peace in the Middle East.

The situation is the size of the conflict. The Moslem world and the Jewish world. The ratio is one hundred to one. The Moslems see Israeli as now killing them for 63 years. The USA is suppling the military hardware and money to do these deads. 63 years now?

I am neither a Jew or a Muslim but I would be interested in a summary of the incorrect facts reported in this article. I just completed 'O Jerusalem' a purportedly even-handed account of the 1948 war that created Israel. The facts there are undeniable. 5 Arab armies made their utmost effort to exterminate the new Jewish state and there can be no doubt that had they won they would have done so. They tried it again in 1967 and 1973. Does anyone (with a brain) think that Israel would exist at all if the Arabs had won? Look at the Jewish populations in Arab countries today...almost non-existent. These were communities that existed for many centuries. Meanwhile there are hundreds of thousands of Arabs living in Israel today.

Having spent a lot of time in Israel/Palestine region, and being a Christian born and raised in a conservative family in northern Virginia, I would strongly have to agree with the first response to this post (Amanda, great note-thanks). I am a fan of peace and understanding without believing everything we hear in American politics. What I saw over there was nothing I had ever heard of before. It was...disappointing.
$6 billion a year goes to Israel in economic+military aid with no questions asked. As an American I pay interest on that money as we have to borrow it from China. Check the facts (and their sources) or go there.
