As we all know, Blacksburg is a very unique place in the heart of southwest Virginia.
Being home to a wonderful community of full-time, permanent residents and families, as well as more than 25,000 Virginia Tech students, the town faces unique issues and challenges that are inherent to the small town.
Therefore, the town needs people who are not only leaders, but have firsthand knowledge of the issues facing the town and student communities. Michael Sutphin is a perfect fit for our
Town Council and community, not only because he has the skills, but he also has the intimate knowledge.
As someone who has experienced life from both the student citizen and resident perspectives, Michael has the ideas and the know how to ensure Blacksburg meets its challenges and can continue to be a great place to live, no matter who you are.

All letters to the editor must include a name, e-mail, daytime phone number and affiliation to Virginia Tech. Affiliation includes: year and major for students; position and department for faculty and staff; current city for alumni and parents.
This is weak. Many residents have attended VT. He doesn't have a secret formula just because he went to school here. Next time, take a little more time forming your argument.
I'm still voting for Sutphin because I think his youth gives ToB a fresh perspective, and his perseverance is noteworthy.

that's just a nasty comment considering you're on the same team.

Yeah, this was scathingly nasty. I hope this guy isn't like Sutphin.
