The Collegiate Times is a nationally recognized college newspaper that covers Virginia Tech and Blacksburg news, sports, opinions and features.
It publishes four times a week, and can be picked up from dozens of red racks located around town.
Established in 1903, the CT is an entirely student-run publication. Students find stories, write them, edit them and lay them out on pages.
Students of any year and major can join. Most starting positions are volunteered, but there is opportunity for promotion and stipends. Also, English majors can recieve internship credit through their department.
If a student is interested in photography, he or she can join Student Photo Publication Services, which takes all CT photos.
The CT and SPPS, along with the literary magazine Silhouette, the radio station WUVT, the TV station VTTV, and the yearbook the Bugle are all owned by the Educational Media Company at Virginia Tech, which is an independent company separate from the university.
Students interested in joining the CT or any other media branch can sign up at collegemedia.com/join.
