The 2008 Hokie football season will start with a full house in Charlotte, N.C., at noon on Aug. 30, as Virginia Tech's opener against East Carolina University kicks off in Bank of America Stadium, the home of the NFL's Carolina Panthers, a stadium holding a more than 73,000.

While student season ticketholders, who had first dibs on purchasing tickets for the game, did not manage to buy the entire allotment, the remaining 1,400 tickets sold out in a single morning when the purchasing was opened up to the public.

Tickets can still be purchased from seatexchange.com and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.

Looking ahead to 2009, the Hokies have scored themselves a spot in the Georgia Dome for the season opener. The Atlanta Sports Council is working with Nick Saban's Crimson Tide out of Alabama on a match up against Tech, though nothing has been agreed so far.

Posted by: Jim at Jul 20 Actually Joe, the student season tickets which cost about 60 bucks this year did not include the ECU game in Charlotte. All season ticket buyers were given an option of purchasing tickets for 53 bucks a pop. This is another way the VT sets it own rules as far as saying who can and can't resell tickets. Flag Abuse
Posted by: Joe at Jul 19 The Game against ECU is considered a HOME game for season ticket holders. I do not know about student season ticket passes if this game was included in that package. Flag Abuse
