BEAMER TALKS BOSTON COLLEGE AT TUESDAY'S PRESS CONFERENCE
Head coach Frank Beamer commenced this week's Tuesday press conference by lauding Boston College's effort at North Carolina State on Oct. 4, the week before its bye.
In that game, Golden Eagles' quarterback Chris Crane led his team to a 38-31 victory on shoulders of his 470 yards passing.
Tech will be coming off its bye week without starting running back Kenny Lewis, Jr., who went under the knife on Monday for a ruptured Achilles tendon. Josh Oglesby's involvement in the offense has said to be increased, and Beamer compared to him to Lewis as similar in speed but distinctly different in experience.
Asked what he remembered about the last time his team traveled to Chestnut Hill, Mass. – a game in which the Hokies were pummeled by a score of 22-3 – Beamer said "Sweet Caroline," the Neil Diamond song that's rather popular on the Boston sports scene. They had a lot to sing about during Tech's only ACC road loss since joining the conference, which amounts to a record of 16-1.
Tech's most recent loss to BC induced perhaps even more pain. Beamer mentioned that he'd seen the replay of Matt Ryan's game-winning toss – then pausing – "several times." Foster played the clip to his defense on Monday. Beamer praised the Golden Eagles' interior defense, including both defensive tackles and the inside linebacking core, especially Toal and no. 94.
Hokie fans may exhale, as the injury Macho Harris sustained to his foot on an interception against Western Kentucky should be okay to go this Saturday.
