Star sophomore Felicia Willoughby led the charge, picking up 14 kills and no errors to go a long with an outstanding .778 attack percentage.
"Yeah, Felicia is amazing," said head coach Chris Riley. "There's a reason why she's one of the best middles in the ACC and in the country. She does a great job offensively, she's really tough to stop, and I thought we made good decisions in setting her and when to set her, and even when the block was there they couldn't stop her."
Tech (19-8, 10-6 ACC) came out on fire, taking a quick 7-1 lead without much of a challenge.
The Eagles, who only have one win in Atlantic Coast Conference play and seven wins in 28 matches this season, appeared disorganized early as Tech continued to build their lead – dominating the net without much resistance from BC's small front line.
The Hokies eventually finished off the Eagles on a thunderous Willoughby kill, ending the set in less than 20 minutes.
Tech controlled the set by hitting an extraordinary .433 attack percentage and only committing three total errors, something the Hokies have struggled with in recent matches.
"Well, I think we made a pretty distinct effort on trying on balls that weren't really hittable not making mistakes on them, and I think we did that tonight," Riley said. "We just put it over when it wasn't in system and tried to be tactical, but we were aggressive in everything we could do that was in system."
Boston College could only muster six total kills while hitting -.080 with eight attack errors.
The Eagles started the second set with some success, taking a 4-1 lead. But Tech quickly responded with five consecutive points.
Despite their sloppy play, Boston College hung in with the Hokies, trading points and staying within striking distance.
Freshman Justine Record killed any momentum BC had left with back-to-back aces, putting the score at 20-15 and sparking a 6-2 run which helped the Hokies win the set, 25-17.
After picking up six kills in the first set alone, Willoughby got another five in the second set, and Boston College had no answer for last season's ACC Freshman of the Year.
"It really didn't look like they were doubling me at all. I think our offense worked really well today," Willoughby said. "Erin was setting the forward, the side, just mixing the offense around which I think it made it tough for them to block."
The Hokies again played terrific defense, holding the Eagles to a .207 hitting percentage and only allowing nine kills.
Tech dropped to a .323 attack percentage, but they still played excellent offense, moving the ball quickly and attacking before the Boston College defenders could adjust.
"They made some adjustments, but the tempo of our offense was fast enough that they really were late in reacting every time," Riley said.
As the third set began, the Eagles were clearly deflated, playing sluggishly and unable to keep up with the Hokies.
Boston College got down early, giving Tech a 14-3 lead that would not be relinquished. The Hokies cleared the bench, getting everyone some playing time before taking the set, 25-16.
Even injured middle blocker Betsy Horowitz made a brief appearance in the third set.
"Betsy was only allowed to go through one time through the front row and that was doctor's orders," Riley said. "So, we got her through when we could get her through, giving her a chance to warm up a little before she went through. It's going to be a little more each day."
The Eagles committed eight attack errors in the set and only managed five kills, providing their worst attack percentage of the night at -.115.
Even with the impressive win, both Riley and Willoughby feel as if there is room for improvement and that the team still isn't playing as well as they were at the beginning of conference play.
"You know, we're still a little bit away from that, but I think we're playing better and we're on our way to that, so tomorrow will be much more of a challenge," Riley said.
"We definitely need to still improve for the rest of the weekends, but we did play really well today," Willoughby said.
Tech will play their final home match of the season Saturday night at 6 p.m. against Maryland.
Sarah Muñoz and Kristen Cunningham will be playing their last home game of their collegiate careers for Senior Night
