I, like many other students, signed up for student season tickets to basketball recently. I was even able to sit in the Hollerin? Hokies section. Later, I received an e-mail informing me that my tickets had been taken from me; here is the wording from the e-mail:
??We had to prioritize the applicant pool and select recipients on the basis of their academic classification. We felt that, in the case of identifying student season ticket holders, this was preferable to running the random lottery.?
I understand that the ticket office wants to make things fair, but there are other ways to do this, maybe allowing for a certain amount of students from each year to purchase season tickets. But, taking away my (and other students) tickets based on ?academic classification? is unacceptable. The ticket office needs to begin to plan ahead and problem solve in advance so that more students are given a more fair chance to attend sporting events.
