Melissa Hernandez, the current store manager, said the corporate level has been talking about the move for years and finally decided to go ahead with it around the beginning of the year. Hernandez said that no employees are quitting because of the move and that when it was announced no one expressed concerns.
?The new building is a larger location. Parking has always been a problem at this location and that could be the reason for the move,? Hernandez said.
The corporate office of FedEx Kinko?s Copies could not comment on the specific reasons for the relocation decision or the soon-to-be decided specific date.
The UPS store at 125 N. Main Street in Blacksburg said that business has been steady for their store and Greta Stiltner, the store manager, was surprised to hear of FedEx Kinko?s Copies? departure.
?They always had people in the store when I went past, I would assume that we will definitely profit from the relocation,? Stiltner said.
The Blacksburg Planning and Engineering department has not yet received a business license for the soon-to-be-vacated space and expects that closer to January potential businesses will begin to apply for the building.
