Before the flames were even fully extinguished from the Zeta Psi Fraternity house, Chris Miller took control and rallied his fraternity brothers into action.

To Miller, the experience proved his level-headedness, work ethic and leadership capabilities - qualities he plans to bring to the table if elected SGA president.

?The Zeta Psi fire was a major stepping stone. Leading an organization through that kind of crisis really prepared me for just about anything that can be thrown my way,? the junior civil engineering major said.

As a freshman, Miller began his SGA work as the Zeta Psi Fraternity representative in SGA's House of Representatives. According to Zeta Psi Vice President and junior political science major Perry Cosier, the fraternity had no representation in the House prior to Miller.

?Before he came in, we didn't know we could have an SGA representative. But Chris sought out the rules and started the position. From there, he's used it as a springboard to get actively involved,? Cosier said.

As the Zeta Psi representative, Miller communicated between the SGA and the fraternity while learning the ropes of student government. He eventually joined the Executive and has since continued increasing his responsibilities.

?He's heavily involved with the SGA, and he's held several leadership positions,? said Brittany Shanks, The Golden Ticket treasurer candidate. ?He possesses a lot of experience and knows how to take charge.?

Miller currently serves as SGA's chief of staff, a position Miller feels taught him a great deal.

?The chief of staff is the president's right hand man. He's the direct aid to the president of the SGA? Serving under the current president has gotten me ready to run this organization,? he said.

Miller explained that he does not intend to run the presidency without any alteration. As president, he would like to enact certain changes to enhance the communication between the SGA and the community.

?I think our main focus is unifying this campus. A lot of organizations serve the undergraduate student body in a special way, but inter-organization communication is lacking,? he said.

Chris Chesson, the vice presidential candidate on The Golden Ticket and junior mechanical engineering and leadership major, added that to accomplish this goal, Miller plans to implement a bi-monthly summit with the leaders of organization and the Tech administrators.

?Some solutions don't have a quick and easy answer,? he said. ?In those instances, we can all come together and brainstorm some amazing and different input.?

Miller also explained his plans to add enjoyment to the SGA, something potentially absent in the past.

?As president, I want to bring an element of fun back into SGA that might not have been here this year. I'll keep things light and loose, but we're going to get work done,? he said.

For Miller, doing the job he loves serves as his main reason for running for the presidency.

?I do it because I love it. It's a 24/7 job with SGA. There's no money, no fame. It's countless hours a week, but we all do it because we love it. That's what it comes down to,? he said.
