When askSGA presidential candidate James Tyger called his vice presidential candidate in the early hours of yesterday morning, he had exciting news. Kristina Perry, chief justice of the SGA and chief overseer of the election, had just phoned Tyger and told him that the election results were coming out a day earlier than expected. ?James came and picked me up,? said Sarah Sexton, askSGA vice presidential candidate. ?James and I kept checking our e-mail every thirty seconds. It was definitely a fun half-hour while we were waiting? for the results. Tyger said he was ?ecstatic? at the success of his ticket, noting that he was glad that ?the whole ticket won rather than being broken up into bits and pieces.? The opposing Golden Ticket presidential candidate Chris Miller spoke with Tyger briefly to express his congratulations, Tyger said. During the campaign, both parties expressed the sentiment that the other would do very well if elected. ?Both the tickets were good groups. I see them getting into office and really running with it,? said Golden Ticket vice-presidential candidate Chris Chesson, who says he plans to apply for the vice president of programs. Both candidates had likewise said that they would relish the ability to work with the other party regardless of the election result. ?I think (the Golden Ticket candidates) have a lot to offer,? Tyger said. The next two weeks will be used to ?find ways to keep the Golden Ticket involved,? and as a transition period, according to Bagai. ?We have until April 17 until inauguration. I?m going to use the next couple of weeks to finish up on some of the things that I?ve been working on and introducing him to some administrators,? Bagai said.
