If you have ever wondered when Virginia Tech will name some of its buildings with generic monikers such as ?New Residence Hall East? and ?Chemistry/Physics Building,? soon at least one of your lingering questions will have an answer.

Tech officials are expected to announce the naming of a building this weekend. University spokesman Mark Owczarski said one of the unnamed buildings on campus will get its final designation on Saturday during a short press conference at the Inn at Virginia Tech.

Although he could not release specific details about the building or the new name, Owczarski did say continuing financial and other support of the university, including a recent multi-million dollar donation, led to the decision.

Owczarski said the building will bear the name of two benefactors. The press conference, which will take place in Latham Ballroom A from 12:15 p.m. to 12:35 p.m., will feature Tech President Charles Steger and the benefactors, in addition to the dean of the college affected by the donation.

The last two press conferences of this nature involved the creation of the Myers-Lawson School of Construction and the unveiling of the university's ?Invent the Future? branding campaign.
