Brief: Latham receives university's highest honor

According to a Virginia Tech news report released Wednesday, William C. Latham was selected to receive the William H. Ruffner medal, Virginia Tech’s most prestigious accolade.

Latham has served Virginia Tech in some capacity or another for 50 years, and has served twice on the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors as vice rector. He has also been active in alumni organizations such as the National Leadership Campaign Committee, and received the Alumni Distinguished Service Award from the University several years ago. Latham graduated from Virginia Tech in 1955 with a degree in general agriculture, and has since gone on to found the major motel company Budget Motels Inc.
