Sale of Orange and Maroon Effect shirts by the Student Government Association for the 2007 football season is now underway.
A Maroon Effect short sleeve shirt is priced at $6, and $10 for an Orange Effect long sleeve. Together, the shirts sell for $12.
This is an increase in price from last season.
Adeel Khan, SGA president, says the increase is due to an increased cost of the shirts from the retail company.
Matt Zackon, Hokie Effect summer director, says slogans for each shirt come from student submissions.
“Each year there are anywhere between 300 to 500 submissions,” Zackon said.
The slogans are then voted on by students and the committee.
“This year there were over 500 votes,” Khan said.
The shirts are available at the university bookstore, Volume Two, and Dietrick General. They can be purchased online at www.bookstore.vt.edu.
They will also be sold at Lane Stadium during football games.
The Maroon Effect game is against North Carolina on Sept. 29, and the Orange Effect game is against Florida State on Nov. 10.
