The show will feature the electronic and computer-based musical stylings of headliners Pu22L3 and The Receptors.

Chris Myers, WUVT's music director and a senior biology major, said one of the original headliners had to pull out of the show at the last minute.

"Mochipet was gung-ho about coming, but couldn't because he's putting out a new record at the moment and just had too much work to do," Myers said. "We were lucky though, because Pu22L3 is with the same label and was able to come out for the show." Pu22L3, specializing in breakcore, hails from San Francisco, Calif., as part of the Daly City records. The Receptors, specializing in gameboy electro and part of the 8-bit record label, will be coming from Roanoke to perform in the show.

Rana Fayez, a junior communication major and a CT staff writer, is WUVT's Special Events Coordinator and played a part in putting the kick-off show together. According to Fayez, this year is the first year that the kick-off show, held once in the fall and once in the spring, has featured electronic music.

"The type of music for the show usually varies," Fayez said. "We typically play a lot of rock and indie, but we're doing something different this year [by featuring electronic music] and trying it out."

Fayez, who has been involved with WUVT for the past three years, said listeners wanted a change in the type of music WUVT features. Fayez hopes to try various other types of musical shows, like indie, metal, electronic, and hip-hop, in the future.

"We're trying to see how electronic music appeals to this area, to the demographic we book for, and we hope a lot of people will show up and like it," Fayez said of the show.

Nauseous Youth Future (Glitch/IDM), i broke my robot (Beautiful Glitchy IDM), Alex Polzien (Old school IDM), and sqrt (ur mother) (Greektronica) will also show off their skills at the show. These artists are from the same label, Broken Fader Cartel, which is based in Chapel Hill, NC. Kluge, based in Roanoke and featuring dark industrial, will also perform at the kick-off show.

Myers, who has been the Electronic Music Director for WUVT since September 2006, has been working with WUVT for four years. He sees this show and his role in putting it together as his dedicated mark on Blacksburg and WUVT as the music director. The idea first came to Myers last December and started to come together in March of this year. "It's a happy coincidence," Myers said. "I have been in constant e-mail contact with the artists pretty much every other day. I brought together all who had an interest at one time and set a date."

Ceritano's is an Italian restaurant located at 428 N. Main Street and is hosting the show, which starts at 7:30 sharp with a $6 cover at the door. The doors will open at 7 p.m.
