Creigh Deeds
Creigh Deeds (Jan. 4, 1958 - ) is a Democratic Virginia state senator from Bath County. Deeds was the Democratic candidate for governor in the 2009 gubernatorial election, losing to Republican Bob McDonnell. He defeated Terry McAuliffe and Brian Moran in the primary election before running against McDonnell.
Deeds made a few appearances to Virginia Tech during the campaign. On April 29, 2009, Deeds and his fellow Democratic candidates attended a debate hosted by the Collegiate Times and several political blogs at the Lyric. He also visited Tech in the days before the 2009 Election Day in hopes to mobilize voters.
Previously, Deeds served as a delegate representing the 18th House of Delegates district, a seat he held from 1991 to 2001. In 2001 he was elected to the 25th Senate district in the General Assembly.
